VIRGINIA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY (www.vwu.edu) invites applications for the Technical Services Librarian with responsibilities for managing the library’s electronic resources and Digital Collections. This position is a full-time, 12-month exempt position with faculty status reporting directly to the Director of Hofheimer Library. An ALA-accredited Master’s in library or information science is required. Candidates should demonstrate experience working with students from diverse backgrounds. Hofheimer Library is a highly collaborative, innovative, caring and inclusive environment that demands collegiality, flexibility and adaptability. The Technical Services librarian oversees acquisitions and cataloging of library materials and also manages all of the library’s electronic resources and the discovery system. In addition, this position oversees the development and preservation of the library’s Digital Collections and oversees preservation of the physical collections. Previous experience with managing electronic resources is preferred. Experience with metadata schema and Omeka or other web-publishing platforms is highly desirable, as is cataloging experience. Librarians contribute to library-wide planning, goal-setting and assessment efforts; teach technology workshops for faculty; staff outreach and orientation events on behalf of the library; and participate in collection development.
