Project to Inventory a Private Library – Alexandria, VA

Randall J. Biallas, FAIA, recently retired as the Chief Historical Architect of the National Park Service. He has offered his architecture and preservation library to the University of Illinois and needs an inventory of the books he hopes to donate.

There are approximately 100 lineal feet of books. The books are on shelves, in cabinets, and in boxes, in a condominium apartment at 807 North Howard Street in Alexandria, Virginia, just south of Alexandria Hospital. There is workspace in the apartment, but note that the apartment does not have internet access. Street parking is available. Metrobus routes 8W and 25B run along Howard Street. Metrobus Route 28 and Alexandria DASH bus routes AT2 and AT5 run along Seminary Road, two blocks north.

The product required is a spreadsheet listing standard bibliographic information: author, title, publisher, date, and whether hardback or paperback. The work needs to be completed as soon as possible. The rate of pay is $25.00/hour.
