Head Film Archivist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison – Madison, WI

DEGREE AND AREA OF SPECIALIZATION: MA or MLS (or equivalent) in moving image archiving, or MLS (or equivalent) in library and information studies (with archival emphasis), and course in film/mass media studies; or MA in film/mass media studies with substantial archival training and experience.
MINIMUM NUMBER OF YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: A year or more of archival experience with emphasis on moving image archiving required. Expertise in moving image archiving essential; experience in digital archiving also desirable. Evidence of teaching interest and ability essential; teaching experience desirable.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Wisconsin Center for Film and Theater Research seeks an archivist to manage the acquisition, processing, and preservation of analog and digital moving image collections; facilitate access to moving image collections, including reproduction requests and film loans; teach 1-3 credits per year; write grants for audiovisual preservation and restoration projects.
