The College of Information Studies invites applications for the annual award of the Myra Wilson Scholarship to a MLS degree student. The scholarship was established in 1999 in memory of Myra Wilson, a graduate from the College of Information Studies, to honor “her respect for education, and her delight in finding answers to myriad, often obscure, questions…” The qualifications of the scholarship winner will reflect those of Myra Wilson: excellent interpersonal skills and a terrific sense of humor.”
The amount of the award will be up to $5,000.
Selection of Recipient
The selection of the recipient will be based on the applicant’s professional goals, academic achievement, and qualifications as expressed in the letter of application. The scholarship decision will be made by the Myra Wilson Scholarship Committee, which consists of the friends and family of Myra Wilson.
Eligibility of Applicants
- Full or Part-time MLS degree students currently enrolled at the College of Information Studies.
- Interest in law librarianship, public library reference, or international librarianship
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and a terrific sense of humor.
The applicant must submit a 500-word letter of application which describes how he or she meets the eligibility qualifications of the Myra Wilson Award, as outlined. Additionally, please include a resume.
