Information Literacy Librarian
The University of Nevada, Reno seeks an Information Literacy Librarian who will support the library’s efforts to integrate information literacy into the curriculum. This tenure-track faculty position will collaborate with faculty to meet information literacy and other curricular objectives, and will design and implement instructional approaches that promote active learning in both in-person and virtual environments. The incumbent will also develop effective e-learning materials and will help to extend library support for online learners. The position will deliver library instruction in a variety of settings and for a variety of levels, including library instruction for Core Writing classes; participate in and extend library outreach and assessment initiatives; build sustainable partnerships with campus programs and initiatives that support teaching and learning; serve as a liaison librarian to one or more departments; serve as a resource for liaison librarians about instructional methods and technologies; and develop and extend the library’s e-learning initiatives.
Reporting to the Director for Liaisons and Research Services, the incumbent will provide guidance to liaison librarians in identifying opportunities for supporting and enhancing student learning of information literacy and other skills within their departments. The preferred candidate will have familiarity with a variety of technological and multimedia tools that support interactive online learning; familiarity with instructional design techniques, educational theories, and active learning pedagogies; experience with conducting learning assessments; and experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures. The Libraries emphasize excellent communication and interpersonal skills; a strong service orientation; a willingness to experiment with new methods and technologies; and the desire to actively engage in campus and community outreach activities to promote the libraries and build partnerships.
