Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a tenured professor appointment as University
Librarian. The University Librarian is the senior administrative officer of the University’s Kimbel Library
and Bryan Information Commons and reports directly to the Provost.
The Kimbel Library and Bryan Information Commons of Coastal Carolina University is an academic library
providing access, circulation and reference services to students 24/7 throughout the academic year. The
departments of Access Services, Collection Management, Instruction Services, Library Administration,
and Library Technology & Systems comprise the Library, providing collections and services to the
university as well as to the local community. The person hired for this position is responsible for the
leadership, organization, administration, operation, and evaluation of physical facilities, faculty and
staff, collections, and budgets.

In concert with key stakeholders, the University Librarian promotes the educational objectives of the
University by leading the development of a clear vision of how the Library serves the University

Candidates must have an ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS plus a record of service and intellectual
contributions appropriate to an appointment at senior faculty rank with tenure. Successful candidates
will also have a record of increasingly responsible positions with at least five years of upper-level
experience in an academic library setting. A second master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
