The UMUC library is looking for a student archives assistant to work 15-20 hours per week. The duties and responsibilities of this position include preliminary sorting and processing of college archival records. This student assistant will assist with processing, description and preservation of archival and special collections for access and public use, as well as digitization of materials for the digital repository. The assistant may also be tasked with coordination and preparation of special exhibits and projects, as well as planning and preparation for special events. In addition this student will perform special tasks, working independently, to create or enhance finding aids for the collections. Must be able to occasionally lift boxes up to 30 lb. in weight. Other duties as assigned.
This position pays $13/hour, and reports to the Assistant Director for Public Services, working under the direction of the Library Associate for Reference who oversees the UMUC Archives, at UMUC’s Largo, MD location. The position will report during regular weekday business hours, though the schedule is highly flexible, up to 20 hours per week.
